This past week, we marked the seventeenth anniversary of those horrific attacks on our Nation. The day was marked with Masses, prayers, memorials, and moments of silence. I can remember in the aftermath of those terrorist attacks how our Nation came together as one Nation under God. As I look at the political and social climate of today, I often wonder if perhaps we forgot the lessons learned. I am not pointing fingers at any side, I am simply saying that civility no longer has a place in the current discourse. Let us pray that we can look at each other with dignity and respect. Perhaps through prayer, we can return to some level of unity.
