This weekend we celebrate the Baptism of the Lord, which also officially brings an end to the Christmas Season. I suggest that you leave your Manger scenes in your homes until the Feast of the Lord’s Presentation (Sunday, February 2nd). This will serve as a reminder of the profound importance of the precious Child found in the Manger. The gift of Christmas must continue to live on in our lives. The Archangel Gabriel, St. Elizabeth, St. John the Baptist, the Host of Angels, the Shepherds, the Magi, and God, Himself have all spoken about the identity and the mission of the Christ Child. It is now time to reflect and ponder, just as our Lady has done, over all that has been said and all that we have heard. If we do so, then we will keep Christmas alive in our hearts all year round.
Today, take a moment and reflect on the words of the Prophet Isaiah:
“Here is My Servant whom I uphold, My Chosen One with Whom I am pleased, upon Whom I have put My spirit; He shall bring forth justice to the nations, not crying out, not shouting, not making His voice heard in the street. A bruised reed He shall not break, and a smoldering wick He shall not quench, {He is} a light for the nations, to open the eyes of the blind, to bring out prisoners from confinement, and from the dungeon, those who live in darkness.”
Once again, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Sincerely Yours in Christ,
Fr. Wayne
