The Gospel this weekend, along with last Sunday’s Gospel, gives us a keen insight into our understanding of prayer.  Last weekend, James and John were bold in asking Jesus if one could sit at His right and the other at His left in His glory.  After Jesus asked them if they were willing to undergo suffering and sacrifice, they responded ~ yes!  They provide for us a powerful example that our prayer needs to be bold and daring.

Bartimaeus, a blind man, knowing that Christ was passing by, seized the moment and cried out to Jesus to ask for healing.  He was not going to be denied an opportunity to reach out to the One who alone could restore him.  Even when he was told to be silent, Bartimaeus cried out all the louder.  He demonstrates for us the need to be confident and trusting

So today, in your prayer be bold, daring, confident and trusting.  As St. Josemaria says: “Forward, no matter what happens! Cling tightly to our Lord’s hand and remember that God does not lose battles.”

Yours in Christ,
