In the Gospel this weekend we encounter our Lord and His disciples on a boat. Jesus takes some well-deserved time for a little rest, and while He is resting, a storm brews up and almost consumes the boat and all those aboard. So often, we tend to focus more on the raging storm and the fear that the disciples displayed. Might I suggest that we explore another facet of the Gospel scene? Did you notice that even though the disciples were frightened and were having difficultly weathering the storm, they knew exactly where to go. Without hesitation, they went straight to Jesus. This is a sobering reminder to all of us that in the midst of the challenges, the storms, and the difficulties that we encounter, we can and should always go to Jesus who will calm the storms as well as our hearts. Today, whatever storm you may be facing ~ simply, go to Jesus and listen to Him say: “Quiet! Be still!”
Sincerely Yours in Christ,
Fr. Wayne
