“You are witnesses to these things.” The Gospel today ends with these words.  The two gathered with Jesus, as well as a host of others (Apostles, disciples, and many more), were privileged enough to be witnesses.  They experienced first hand all that Jesus said and did.  As witnesses, they were then charged with going out into the world to make known the message.  In other words, they were called to testify to what they had heard and encountered.

We, too, have had an extraordinary encounter with Jesus over these days; and, now it is our turn.  We are called to go out into the world to be witnesses who will testify to the truth.  The early Church took this commission extremely serious and made significant sacrifices to do what was asked of them.  I often wonder if we (you and I) are we willing to do likewise?  Can we take this commission and run with it?  The only thing that matters now is our response.

Sincerely Yours in Christ,
Fr. Wayne
