As we continue to construct our Plan of Life, we now want to take from the Scripture Reading (last week’s addition to the Plan of Life) a phrase or a couple of words to carry with us throughout the day. The purpose of this is to have a few words that we can call to mind during the day as an aspiration. This will assist us in turning our minds and hearts to God throughout the day.
For instance, from today’s Second Reading, a simple phrase such as: “have no anxiety at all,” can be something we remind ourselves of throughout the day. A short phrase such as this can help us to remember that God is in charge; and, we should not be anxious or fearful. Keep your daily aspirations brief and concise so that they can be easily repeated and remembered.
Also, these aspirations do not need to be restricted to a Scripture verse. It can simply be a few words that ground you throughout the day. For example, Mons. Fernando Ocariz stated: “Blessed Don Alvaro often prayed an aspiration along these lines, a clear outpouring of his trust in God: ‘Thank you, sorry, help me more.’ These words express gratitude for the good things we do not deserve, recognition of our personal weakness, and a humble request for the strength needed to reach the greatest happiness possible, union with God.”
So, today think of an aspiration that you want to recall that keeps you focused and thinking of God ~ then pray it many, many times.
Faithfully Yours in Christ,
Fr. Wayne
