As we are about to enter a new fall season, I would like to ask you to consider deepening your resolve to answer the universal call to holiness. As we recognize and appreciate the fact that we are all called to be saints, there must be steps taken on our part to assist in the process. One way to show your seriousness toward answering the call of holiness is to develop a daily Plan of Life. This is a Plan of Life from a spiritual point of view. It is not a laundry list of spiritual things to do, but rather, an opportunity to insert prayer and penitential practices into your day. This Plan of Life provides a structure that assists you in cultivating good habits. Again, this structure is not a rigid “to-do list,” it is meant to be a means to help you to focus during the day and pause at moments to pray, reflect, meditate, and act. If you are serious in answering the call to holiness and striving to become a saint, then the Plan of Life is the point of departure. A good place to start to develop a Plan of Life is a little book, which is a quick read written, by a dear friend of mine, Fr. Roger Landry. It is simply entitled: Plan of Life. In this book, Fr. Landry gives a great synopsis of the importance of a Plan of Life and actual steps for putting such a plan together. The Daughters of St. Paul here in Dedham (Pauline Book Store) has copies of the book. Why not make a visit to the bookstore and get your copy. In the weeks to follow, I will highlight some facets of the Plan of Life that may be helpful to you.
Faithfully Yours in Christ,
Fr. Wayne
