In the Gospel today, Jesus gives us a simple command; namely, “Follow Me.” Two things are necessary if we are to do so. We must trust and obey. To trust means that as we follow Christ, we believe and know that He will provide for all our needs. To obey means, unlike the two in the Gospel who put stipulations on Jesus’ command, we must immediately respond to what is being asked of us. Jesus is calling ~ are you ready and willing to follow where He leads? In other words, do we trust Him enough to obey that command?
