This weekend, the Church celebrates the Feast of the Lord’s Baptism. This feast brings our Christmas Season to a conclusion. Yet, the gift of Christmas must continue to live on in our lives. From that Manger, we have all received an extraordinary gift from God ~ His own Son for the salvation of the world. From the intimacy of the Manger, we celebrated the gift of the Holy Family and the visit of the Magi, both celebrations pointed out to us Who this Child is. Now, we find ourselves at the Jordan River to yet again witness to the identity of this Man. He is the Son of God and Isaiah prophesied:
“Here is My Servant whom I uphold, My Chosen One with Whom I am pleased, upon Whom I have put My spirit; He shall bring forth justice to the nations, not crying out, not shouting, not making His voice heard in the street. A bruised reed He shall not break, and a smoldering wick He shall not quench, {He is} a light for the nations, to open the eyes of the blind, to bring out prisoners from confinement, and from the dungeon, those who live in darkness.”
He truly is the Gift that keeps on giving!
Yours in Christ,
