In the Gospel this weekend, we hear of two parables that describe the Kingdom of God. Both refer to seeds planted and the growth they produce. While we traditional focus on the seed planted, we sometimes overlook the soil that receives the seed. Anybody planting a garden, a flower, or an entire field, makes certain the soil is prepared, rich, and welcoming of the seed. The seed of faith ~ the seed of the Kingdom also needs to be planted in the soil that is prepared, rich, and welcoming. How do we do this? Through the Sacraments (particularly the Eucharist & Confession), Adoration, Scripture reading, quiet time in prayerful meditation, not speaking ill of others, not looking at or hearing things that lead us away from God. This week tend to the soil of your heart and with the grace of God produce a rich harvest.
Yours in Christ,
Fr. Wayne
