Andrew, the brother of Simon Peter, was one of the two who heard John and followed Jesus. He first found his own brother Simon and told him, ‘We have found the Messiah,’ which is translated Christ.  Then he brought him to Jesus.”

These are powerful words from the Gospel today.  Andrew hears about Jesus and immediately goes and finds his brother Simon (Peter) and tells him what he has seen and heard.  Then, Andrew brings his brother to encounter Jesus.

St. Peter, who played such a prominent role in the mission of the Church, was introduced to Jesus by his brother.  We are called to do exactly what St. Andrew did.  We are called to bring others to Christ.  Yet, this can only happen in the manner in which it did for St. Andrew.  We first must have this encounter.  Only after we have seen and heard Christ are we in the position of helping others to see and hear Him.  Who, in your family, can you bring to Christ?  In the Eucharist today, in the Adoration Chapel, in the Sacrament of Confession, and in the Sacred Scripture, you will encounter Christ.  Is He worth sharing with those you love?

Sincerely Yours in Christ,
Fr. Wayne
