As was said last weekend, we are quickly coming to the end of the Liturgical Year. In two weeks time, we will begin Advent ~ the joyful preparation for the Birth of Christ. Last weekend, we reflected on the fact that we must maintain a constant state of readiness for the Master’s return. This weekend, we call to mind the gifts and talents that have been given to us by God. We are not only reminded that we have these gifts; but also, we are encouraged to use them. For some, they may feel that their gifts are not significant in comparison to the gifts and talents of others. We must realize that any gift, which is from God, is significant and should be used to give Him glory. The man of the Gospel that went on a journey is Christ. He has journeyed to the Father. Make no mistake about it, however, He will return. When? Well last weekend answered that question ~ we do not know the day nor the hour. So we must be prepared/ready for His return. This means that we are called to use our gifts today and not bury them for tomorrow. Think of those gifts God has bestowed on you; and then, seek ways to use them effectively. Our gifts are meant to be shared with God and others. Do not be selfish and keep them to and for yourself. Afterall, what joy your soul will experience when on the last day you hear: “Well done, my good and faithful servant. . . Come, share your Master’s joy.”
