In Paul’s Letter to the Philippians today, he advises them: “Conduct yourselves in a way worthy of the Gospel of Christ.” This is a call for each of us to heed;. we must conduct all our affairs in light of the Gospel. In order to do so, we need to be familiar with the words of the Gospel. For how can we commit ourselves to that which we are not all that familiar? Yes, we hear each week the words of the Gospel; and, have come to understand the teachings of Christ by our participation in the Holy Mass.
Yet, outside of Holy Mass, have we spent adequate time reading the Sacred Scriptures? Do we often take the words of the Gospel to prayer with us? Have we dedicated a few minutes each day to read the Gospels? Are we taking advantage of the resources available to us, whether in person with the Wednesday Gospel Study at 11:00 a.m. at the parish or online tools? This week consider dedicating some time to reading the Sacred Scriptures. Get to know Christ better. Conduct yourselves in a way worthy of what it is that you have read ~ the Gospel of Christ.
Faithfully Yours in Christ,
Fr. Wayne
