In the Gospel today Peter makes a bold move by climbing out of the boat, at the beckoning of Jesus, and walking on water. Peter trusted Jesus enough to get out of the boat and do as He said. Yet when the waves that surrounded him began to intensify, that trust began to dissipate. What does Peter do? Exactly what so many do when they get overwhelmed – he took his eyes of Christ. He lost focus of that trust. If we are honest with ourselves, then we must admit that we have, at some point, experienced taking our eyes off Christ. As we begin to sink into the uncertainties, the anxieties, the challenges, and the fears, do not lose hope ~ Jesus stands with His hands outstretched. He waits to pull each of us up. If you are sinking in the waters of the world, then focus on Christ in the Eucharist, in Confession, in Adoration, and in prayer.
Do not be afraid ~ Jesus has never lost a battle!
Faithfully Yours in Christ,
