Dear Brothers & Sisters:

Late last Saturday evening (May 23rd), it was made known to the priests and seminarians that we potentially had been exposed (second-hand) to COVID-19. This possible exposure did not take place at the Saturday Masses. Out of an abundance of caution, we made the decision to suspend all Masses on Sunday, May 24th in light of that information. The person in question of transmitting the possible second-hand exposure of COVID-19 was tested and the results came back negative on Sunday evening.

Our prayers were answered that the family in question had negative test results. We were confident that we took every precaution possible to create a safe and sanitary environment for the return to Mass. This, however, is a good reminder that each parishioner has a personal responsibility to keep each other healthy. We know that you share in our excitement and joy for the return to public Mass, but please remain home if you feel sick in any way; or, may have been in contact with some one with COVID-19.

Be sure to follow all CDC, MDPH, and Archdiocesan guidelines for COVID-19. Stay 6ft apart from others, wear a mask, do not share or pass along anything while in the Church, be vigilant about washing your hands, and be cautious.

In addition to these normal precautions, we are thoroughly sanitizing the Church after each Mass for everyone’s safety. This sanitization is possible because we have purchased a state of the art electric spray sanitizing pump. It takes about 15 minutes for us to go through the Church and spray all surfaces. The sanitizing solution used attaches to all surfaces and disinfects on contact.

Public Masses did resume on Monday, May 25th as well as Perpetual Adoration. Please know that we take seriously your safety and well-being. If we feel that any of the priests and/or seminarians have been compromised in any way, we will take the necessary actions to ensure your safety.

Thank you for your prayers, patience, and understanding as we had to make the difficult but necessary decision to suspend Sunday Masses last weekend on May 24th. Please be assured of my prayers for you and your loved ones. I look forward to being with you this Pentecost Sunday.

Faithfully Yours in Christ,
Fr. Wayne
