This week I ask each of you to pause and reflect on the courage displayed and sacrifices made for our independence. From the beginning of that cry for independence until today, courageous men and women have accepted the call to serve the causes of freedom and justice. The founders of this nation had a vision that was steeped in the knowledge that we were to be one nation under God. Many significant sacrifices were made to realize that vision. Let us never lose sight of the principles of freedom, liberty, truth, and justice for they are the very gifts from God that truly unite us as one. In celebrating the founding of our nation, let us not forget those who defended these principles throughout the years. We owe our veterans a debt of gratitude. We are grateful to all our service men and women, and they have earned a special place in our thoughts and prayers. Please make sure this weekend that you say a prayer of gratitude and protection for those who have served and continue to serve our nation in such an honorable fashion.
May God bless each of them and may God continue to bless America.
