This weekend, we celebrate the great feast of Pentecost. This day marks the beginning of the Church and the end to the Easter Season. Fifty days ago, we embarked on a journey that led us from the mouth of the empty tomb to the heights of the Ascension of Christ. Now, we look heavenward not to see Christ ascend, but to witness the Holy Spirit descend. This Holy Spirit, the Third Person of the Trinity, comes into the world to renew the face of the earth. What will that renewal look like in your corner of the world? In other words, how will the coming of the Holy Spirit affect your life? That Holy Spirit descended on our Blessed Mother and She conceived Christ. That Holy Spirit descended on the Apostles in the upper room and they went out immediately into the world and proclaimed the message of Christ. That Holy Spirit touched the hearts of countless men and women and they were on fire with the faith ~ many of them even sacrificed their lives. So, when the Holy Spirit descends on you this day, what will be your response?
