In the first reading today from the Book of Genesis, we see that God asked Abraham to do something extremely difficult if not just outright unthinkable.  He asked Abraham to sacrifice his own son.  Abraham was prepared to carry out the desire of  God , when the angel of God held back his hand.  The words of the angel to Abraham: “Do not lay your hand on the boy  . . .  I know now how devoted you are to God, since you did not withhold from me your own beloved son.”  Can you imagine the level of trust Abraham had in order to do what God asked of him?  Actually, ponder that level of trust, because you and I are called to operate our lives under that same level.  We are called to trust God and place ourselves completely in His hands.  We must not waiver in what is asked of us.  When God calls, our response  needs to be prompt and trusting.  We may need to make some difficult decisions, but if we trust, God always has something greater in store for us.  Our true peace and happiness depends on our level of trust in God.

Sincerely Yours in Christ,
