On Wednesday, our Lenten journey began. Just as Jesus spent 40 days in the desert and was tempted by the devil; and as Noah spent 40 days on the Ark during the flood; we are given a unique opportunity of 40 days. How are you going to spend those days? We are called to prayer, fasting, and almsgiving in this season; but, what will that look like for you? Are you going to deepen your prayer life (perhaps the call to spend time in Adoration needs to be answered)? Are you going to fast with purpose for an intention (without an intention, the fasting is only a diet!)? Are you going to make an effort to be more generous to family, friends, and/or the parish (do you think you already have done enough)? These 40 days are yours to make a difference in your life or to simply just wait them out until Easter. How will you spend your 40 days of Lent? It’s a question worth pondering.
Sincerely Yours in Christ,
Fr. Wayne
