Often I hear people lament that there just doesn’t seem to be enough time to do everything in one day.  As a consequence, some abandon prayer to make time for other things or they simply put it off until the moment they are to jump into bed.  Jesus was always tending to the needs of others, forgiving sins, healing the sick, preaching the message of the kingdom, and doing the will of the Father.  Through it all, He found time to pray.  He even would begin His day early so as to be in communication with the Father.  The gospel today tells us: “Rising very early before dawn, He left and went off to a deserted place, where He prayed.” For Jesus, prayer was not optional it was essential to who He is.  Prayer should be as essential in our lives.  In order to do God’s will, we need to know what He expects of us.  How are we to know what He expects? By speaking and listening to Him on a daily basis.  What do we call this communication with God, but prayer. Today, consider spending more time not less in prayer and then everything else will fall into place.

Sincerely Yours in Christ,
Fr. Wayne
