In the Gospel today, Jesus proclaims: “This is the time of fulfillment. The Kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the Gospel.”
Over this past year, more or less, we have been consumed with protocols and precautions as they pertain to the containment of the spread of the coronavirus. People have gone to great lengths to try to do their best to fulfill the mandates and procedures that have been put in place. Many have done well to tending to their physical well-being. I often wonder if we pay as close attention to our spiritual well-being. If this is indeed the time of fulfillment and the Kingdom of God is at hand, then should we not make a greater effort to be prepared for that moment?
I often comment that when the weather reports speak of an impeding snowstorm how people put so much time and energy into preparing for a couple inches of snow. I hear myself saying if only we prepared as well for eternity.
Not too long ago, we did a series with our teens entitled, Body, Mind, & Soul. We encouraged each of the teens to make sure that they are keeping their physical and spiritual selves in great shape. That they are taking the time and energy to tend to their physical and spiritual needs. Please consider doing the same. Many of you have gone to great lengths to keep you and your families safe during these days. Make sure you are doing the same with your spiritual needs for the family and yourself.
I see everywhere signs that read wear a mask ~ save a life. My spiritual advice to you is get to confession ~ save a soul!
Sincerely Yours in Christ,
Fr. Wayne
