My Dear Brothers and Sisters,

These have been very difficult days for our parish family and for the greater community. In my 25 years as a priest, I have never had the unfortunate opportunity to celebrate the Sunday Mass in an empty Church. Yet the reality is before us. As much as it pains me to do so, I am reminded that as I stand at the Altar ~ I am never alone! Our Lady stands there, for She always remains at the foot of the Cross. The Angels accompany me. The Saints surround the sanctuary. Above all, the God of Angel armies is always present. You, also, are there with me. Your prayers, intentions, love, support, and faith, I take all of that with me to the Altar. So we will be together not only this Sunday, but at every private Mass that is offered.

Although public Masses are suspended, our obligation “to keep holy the Sabbath day” continues! Might I suggest you and your family considering doing some, if not all, of the following spiritual practices.

1) Watch the Holy Mass which is downloaded on our website: stmarysdedham.com
2) Spend 15-30 minutes in prayer
3) Take time to read the Bible or the daily readings, which can be found on our website under the “Liturgy” tab.
4) Pray the Rosary, which is on the parish website daily
5) Pray the Stations of the Cross which will be on the website each Friday
6) The Church will remain open daily from 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. for Adoration. Make a visit each day.
7) Confessions will continue at all normally scheduled times

During these days, please pray, fast, and be generous to those in need. We shall meet each other in the Eucharist.

May God bless you all and stay strong and healthy!
