Once again, we embark on a forty day journey with the Lord into the desert known to us as Lent. The Holy Spirit was responsible for “driving” Jesus into the desert. Reflect for a moment on the Lord’s disposition ~ His attitude. At the prompting of the Holy Spirit, the Lord entered the desert with docility. This is a temperament that each of us should have in this Lenten Season. Docility means an openness or willingness; Jesus was open and willing to be led by the Spirit. He didn’t enter the desert kicking and fighting. He went willingly without reservation and/or hesitation. This is the attitude we need to possess as we enter into this Lenten Season. Let us be open to the promptings of the Holy Spirit. Let us listen attentively to the voice of the Lord over these next forty days. Make this Lent a fruitful one by being open and willing to offer your hearts to the Lord. I am told that the desert can be a lonely place, so let’s accompany one another on this journey.
