During the summer, one of the favorite games we played as kids was tag. We would run around and “tag” a person and yell out: “tag, your it!” Those who made it to the telephone pole (“goose”) were safe for the time being. I think of that as I hear this Gospel passage in which Jesus sends out the Twelve. It was as if He was saying to them: “Tag your it!” In other words, it is now your turn! As Jesus sent the Twelve, He now sends us. We are called/summoned to go out into the world and bring the Gospel. We do so in the manner by which we speak and act. This weekend, think of how you can respond to the Call of Jesus; and, then respond in kind to His invitation to serve.
