Last weekend, we all learned of the transfer of Fr. Dominic from St. Mary’s parish to St. Camillus-St. Agnes parish in Arlington.  The news came as quite a shock and surprise to all of us here at the parish, including me.

Fr. Dominic came to St. Mary’s over six years ago and from that time on he immersed himself fully into all aspects of the parish life.  He enhanced the devotional life here at St. Mary’s and helped me and so many others to actively strive for holiness.  His presence and demeanor have been inspirational.  Whether in the rectory, the Church, the Adoration Chapel, or just on the parish grounds, Fr. Dominic’s presence was felt.

During the months of covid, Fr. Dominic’s help and guidance were indispensable.  Quite frankly, we were able to do all that we did during that time because of Fr. Dominic’s willingness to go above and beyond what was asked and expected.  While many parishes were experiencing a decline in the aftermath of covid, St. Mary’s was growing stronger.  This was in large part due to the work, guidance, and desire for souls that Fr. Dominic displayed.

Together with Deacon Kelley and the parish staff, we were able to push forward and provide for the spiritual needs of the parishioners of St. Mary’s.  The key was that we all worked together and forged into unchartered waters, and at the helm with me was Fr. Dominic.

There was indeed so much that Fr. Dominic did “behind the scenes” that made life here at St. Mary’s fruitful.  I for one will deeply miss his presence at St. Mary’s.  May God bless him for all that he has done for the parish and for me!

Sincerely Yours in Christ,
Fr. Wayne
