The readings for this weekend in Ordinary Time speak to us about discipleship and evangelization. These are the two pillars on which the foundation of our lives are built. In the context of discipleship, we recognize that it all begins first with a Call from God to follow Christ. Each of the Readings and the Psalm in today’s Holy Mass speak clearly about those who were called and their reactions/responses. Once we experience the Call, then there are two actions that need to take place. First, we need to accept His Call ~ that is the invitation to go and follow Christ. Second, and this is where the work of evangelization comes in, we must invite others to come on the journey. St. John the Baptist invited his disciples to follow Christ. St. Andrew invited his brother Simon Peter to follow Christ. So, the question begs to be asked, that is, who will you invite to follow Christ? Think about it, because it will truly be an experience that will change their lives forever.
