This weekend the Church enters into the Second Sunday of Advent. Here we encounter John the Baptist as the one crying out in the desert to prepare the way of the Lord. I encourage each of you to heed the Baptist’s call. Prepare well for the coming of Christ. At the baptism of Christ in the Jordan, Dr. Peter Kreeft points out: “When John baptized Jesus the waters did not change Him; rather, He changed the waters.” Take the time to slow down and think of the importance of this preparation in your lives. That is, don’t lose sight of the true reason for this Advent season ~ to prepare. Jesus Christ is coming to us as the Word made flesh, the Child of the manger, the Son of God and the Son of Mary, and the One who takes away the sins of the world. Be changed by Him as was the waters of the Jordan.
Faithfully Yours in Christ,
Fr. Wayne
