In the Gospel today, Zacchaeus climbed a tree just to take a chance at seeing Christ. I am amazed at the length he would go in order to get a glimpse of Him. It often makes me wonder how far I am willing to go in order to have an encounter with Christ. I realize that unlike Zacchaeus I really do not have to make any extraordinary effort to see Christ. All I have to do is walk into the Church at Holy Mass for such an encounter. All I have to do is head to the St. Joseph Adoration Chapel for such an encounter. All I have to do is pray and read the Sacred Scriptures for such an encounter. This weekend and the week ahead you do not need to climb a tree to see Jesus ~ all you need is to get to the Church, pray, or open your Bible for such an encounter. The Lord is waiting and today He wants to stay at your house.
