Last weekend, we spoke about the reception of the Word of God. We reflected that the ideal conditions for this Word to take root in our lives and bear fruit is for the soil of our souls to be good, fertile, and rich. Once this is underway, God can then begin the great work in our lives. You may have noticed around the Church property that much work is being done. We have a group of teens that have spent numerous hours weeding the flower beds, the areas around the statues, the grotto, and the parking lots. After completing one section and as they move on to another section, one commented that the weeds are already growing back! One of them asked, what’s the use? The Gospel today reminds us that we will constantly be weeding the soil. The enemy, the devil, will continue to sow weeds in the midst of the good seed sown by God. As I told the teen, I now tell each of you ~ do not get discouraged. Keep tending to the soil through the Holy Mass, Confession, Adoration, and prayer. God will assist you in this endeavor. Stay focused and do not lose heart.
Faithfully Yours in Christ,
