This weekend, Jesus continues His discourse of sowing seeds that have the potential of producing a rich harvest. Today, however, we encounter an enemy who entered the field at night in order to destroy the crop by sowing weeds. The parable is pretty straight forward! God has planted a beautiful garden; yet, the devil wants to wreck havoc in the fields of the Lord. So under the cover of dark, the devil enters the fields of our minds and hearts and plants the seeds of temptation and sin. Once the seed is planted and deception takes root, we have a remedy. That is, we have a means to remove the weeds. For us, the sacrament of Confession is the surest and safest way to pull out the weeds of temptation and sin. If you are in the garden of your soul and discover the weeds, then get rid of them as soon as possible by going to Confession.
