This weekend, the Church enters into the Second Sunday of Advent. John the Baptist becomes the voice of the one crying out in the desert to prepare the way of the Lord. John indeed is the voice calling us to prepare our hearts. So, how are we preparing our hearts for the birth of Jesus? This is the second week of Advent and the window of opportunity to prepare is closing. Time for preparation is running out. Don’t let the crazy rush of this time consume you. Don’t get overwhelmed with cramming in last minute shopping. In other words, don’t lose sight over the true reason for this season. Jesus Christ is coming to us as the Word made flesh, the Child of the manger, the Son of God and the Son of Mary, and the One who takes away the sin of the world. Are you prepared for Him? Are you ready to find Him in your heart? Never forget, if you don’t find the true meaning of Christmas in your heart ~ you’ll never find it under a tree! Use the remainder days of Advent wisely and realize the true gift that you will receive ~ salvation.
