In the Gospel today, we find Jesus asking a very poignant question; namely, “who do you say that I am?” These words should provoke a desire within each of our minds and hearts to answer that very question. Yet, to answer that question, we need to spend time to get to know Christ. I would like to propose five possible means for you to consider in this quest to know Christ deeper. The anacronym L.A.W.S2, is a good place to start.
L ~ Liturgy. Spend time preparing well for Holy Mass. Take an opportunity to look over the readings prior to coming to Church. Our parish website has the daily readings under the Liturgy Tab.
A ~ Adoration. Spend time in Adoration. The St. Joseph Chapel is open to the public for Adoration each day from 6:00 am-11:00 pm. St. Mother Teresa often said that spending an hour each day with the Lord will lead to happiness and holiness.
W ~ Worship. There are many forms of worship to consider; I would like to propose one. Listen to music that will lead you to giving thanks and praise to God. There are many different genres of music that can help us worship God. Each week on the parish website, we have a music video that will be played at Holy Mass.
S ~ Sacraments. Stay close to our Lord in the Sacraments. The Sacraments of the Eucharist and Confession provide us opportunities to encounter Christ.
S ~ Scripture. Reading and praying with the Bible will provide us a glimpse into the life and person of Christ.
I encourage you this week to take time and reflect on that question, “Who do you say that I am?”
Faithfully Yours in Christ,
Fr. Wayne
