This weekend the Church enters into the Second Sunday of Advent. We encounter John the Baptist as the one crying out in the desert to prepare the way of the Lord. I encourage each of you to heed the Baptist’s call. Prepare well for the coming of Christ. The second candle of the Advent Wreathe is lit, meaning we are coming closer to the great celebration of His birth. Take the time to slow down and think of the importance of this preparation in your lives. That is, don’t lose sight of the true reason for this Advent season. Jesus Christ is coming to us as the Word made flesh, the Child of the manger, the Son of God and the Son of Mary, and the One who takes away the sin of the world. Prepare for that and your Christmas will be merry and bright.
