This weekend’s Gospel speaks to us of the Ten Lepers. In Jesus’ time, lepers had to alert others of their presence so that people would have the opportunity to avoid them. They were rejected and isolated. It was believed that the sores were a reflection of their internal and external impurities. They were considered to be among the most unworthy members of society. The truth of the matter is that we all carry those sores of leprosy in our souls. We are wounded and isolated because of our sins. We, by our choices, sometimes choose against God and His Will. By doing so, we act in a selfish, greedy, and prideful manner. Even in this, God still loves us. The lepers cried out to Jesus in faith, and He responded. Once healed, only one returned to thank Him. We must be like that one who returns and always offer our gratitude to God.
Faithfully Yours in Christ,
