In the Gospel last Sunday, Jesus gave us a command; namely, “As I have loved you, so you also should love one another.” This love that Jesus calls us to is to be demonstrated in acts of service and sacrifice.  Both actions He made manifest at the Last Supper. Service (washing the disciple’s feet) and sacrifice (offering His Body and Blood) were not limited to the Last Supper.  Jesus constantly served and sacrificed throughout His life and ministry among us.  He did so out of love, and we must do so out of that same love.  The goal of love is union with another, which is only possible when we know, serve, and sacrifice for them.  This weekend, Jesus continues to remind us about that love and its effect in our lives.  When we love, as Christ loved, then God finds a dwelling in us and we will find a dwelling place in Him.  This is truly a worthy abode for us.

It is my earnest desire that Fr. Nicholas Stano and Fr. Patrick O’Connor live their priesthood in this manner of love.  Let us pray for them, that in their new assignments they serve and sacrifice for the people of God in their parishes and beyond.

Ad multos annos!

Yours in Christ,
Fr. Wayne
