In the Gospel today, Jesus exclaims to the woman who came to Him asking for help for her tormented daughter: “Great is your faith.” Our faith, as we have been hearing over the past few weeks, is a precious gift. We must realize that faith is not a thing nor is it magic. Faith is defined by the relationship we have with our Lord. The woman in the Gospel displayed great faith because she knew and trusted that Jesus would be able to help her. She was insistent and she was believing. Based on that, Jesus extended to her the great blessing of healing. I encourage each of you to foster a deep relationship with the Lord. Trust in the Lord and do what we hear in the words of the Psalms: “Cast all your cares on Him, because He cares for you.” Last weekend, Peter walked on the water when the Lord summoned him. He began to sink the moment he took his eyes of Christ. Stay focused on the Lord, nurture the gift of your faith, and see the blessings flow.
